Join us for a lecture and musical journey with Christopher King at Penn Libraries.
Ethnomusicologist and re-mastering engineer Christopher King reflects on the pivotal role of immigrant communities and early American record labels in the dissemination of Eastern Mediterranean music. Recordings from King's collection of 78 rpm discs are paired with a live musical performance. This presentation by Mr. King will introduce the upcoming exhibition in Athens at the Gennadius Library of the Greek-American Music Experience in the Early 20th Century.
Related materials from the Penn Libraries collection will be on display in the Lea Library before (starting 6:15pm) and after the presentation (until 9pm).
Registration is required for guests outside of the Penn community and encouraged for all participants.
